I’m so excited for the reboot of the remake of a story that once meant something to me! Look at the shimmering characters enshrined on my TV Why can’t I be more like them, who have such agency? Why can’t I be the hero in - my own story? “Did you see who said what last night on the awards show?” “I heard the prince of Britain’s going to abdicate the throne!” How did I accept that rich strangers lives matter more to me than my own? I have grown so bored of all of the people around me Why can’t I tell them to fuck off? They dress so garishly. A star’s life is so glamorous, they can have mine for me! Do you feel unexceptional, like you’re just killing time? Your neighbor has a bigger house and drinks fancier wines The office and the commute and the gym, they can’t disguise The hope that dead celebrities will bring meaning to your life Watch as the colors drain, your world has turned to gray But Bowie died for your sins, so it’s ok Though you may bear the guilt, of a normal fucking life You know that Prince died for your sins, so it’s alright Do you feel someone else has dictated the terms you meet? You’ve been living much too long to think anything comes for free The nightlife and the pastimes and the infidelities The only tears you ever shed are for dead celebrities

Did you make your bed? Did you lay awake in it and hear voices Ringing in your head? Asking when did your life become so joyless, Exert control, you can buy a way to make your body more than a sieve For your soul, So many different products, but just one way to live. Paper or plastic? Dying by inches or by feet? Rotting right takes practice, so come on, fail then repeat. Did you recognize the bitter words falling from my mouth? There are things that I never wanna do again but don’t know who I am without. We’re this empire’s, broken down organ’s mutating cells It’s a long ride, and I’ve got a lot of damage to do to myself White or wheat? Shorts or longs? The difference is drastic, so don’t choose wrong. You’ll find me on the darkest side of the darkest street, An animal one conveyor belt’s length from being meat You’ll find me at the drunkest bar, in the drunkest seat It’s lights up when this song ends, but I’m lost inside the beat

In Decline 02:50
The tyranny of beauty, the beauty of tyranny; Punishment for vanity, refutation of purity Like a medusa turned to stone, they let you know that you’re alone When you’re running to the door, when you can’t fucking get up and you’re lying on the floor Because all life is a disease, and watch it bring you to your knees Cuz you just wish that time would freeze, but you’re a dying star, a fading light, you’re begging and you plead Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s bourgeoisie A lifetime of maintenance on the facade of me I’ve been conditioned to compete, and I’ve been doomed to repeat Every morning my routine, how exactly do I measure up and just who should I be? Life is a constant compromise, an endless contest with no prize. Do you mind if I close my eyes? Cuz there’s this part coming up where the phoenix doesn’t rise And I don’t want you to see me cry, it’s the shame of being in decline. It existed long before me, so why do I feel this guilt for not being able to break out of this prison that you built? There’s a stranger in the mirror and she’s getting stranger every day.

Sure, some will suffer, but there’s a perfect world around the bend, A bright future for every opportunist and charlatan. It’s Disneyworld in my mind, technicolor thrills and standing in line, While a Mickey Mouse private security detail is blowing off heads. I’ll turn a blind eye, and I’ll take the cheapest thrills that you’ve got. Cuz Donald Duck is CIA. It’s not about you, you’re a data point in a pie chart of death. That’s been used in a necrophiliac cost-benefit analysis. It’s a graveyard in my eyes, it’s expanding, you can own a franchise A stranger does your grocery shopping while you convalesce I don’t want to die, but I don’t want to live in your perfect world. Synapses fire and rot away I dream of a sky darkened by drones all dropping vibrators: This perfect world is here to stay.
